CAST: Pete and Andy
SCENE: Pete's Backyard

(PETE IS PLAYING IN HIS BACKYARD, THEN ANDY ENTERS.)

ANDY: Hi, Pete.

PETE: We'll, hello there, Andy. How's every thing going?

ANDY: Everything's just fine and dandy.

PETE: Well, that's good.

ANDY: No, that's bad.

PETE: Why is that bad?

ANDY: It's boring. Everything is going too good. When there is no excitement, it gets boring.

PETE: Yeah, I sorta know what you mean, that's too bad!

ANDY: No, that's good.

PETE: (SHAKES HEAD AND LOOKS AT AUDIENCE) Well, Andy, why's that good?

ANDY: Because it gives me time to think. I don't have much time to just sit and think.

PETE: Well, that's good then.

ANDY: No, that's bad.

PETE: Why's that bad?

ANDY: Well, I usually sit here and start thinking about all my problems. Who wants to spend all their time thinking about trouble?

PETE: You're right, Andy. That is bad.

ANDY: No, that's good.

PETE: What do you mean? Why is that good?

ANDY: Well, because if I never thought about trouble, then I'd never know how to solve my problems.

PETE: Yeah, that's good.

ANDY: No, Pete, that's bad.

PETE: Well, why's that bad?

ANDY: Because I can never figure out how to solve my problems anyway. So then I just sit here and that gets boring.

PETE: Well, it wouldn't be so bad if you'd let Jesus help you figure out how to solve your problems.

ANDY: I suppose that's good.

PETE: Hey, Andy, that's great!

ANDY: No, Pete, that's bad.

PETE: Why is that bad?

ANDY: Because Jesus isn't around to help me.

PETE: No, that's good. Even though Jesus isn't here physically, we have His word, the Bible, to help us with our problems.

ANDY: I suppose that's good.

PETE: Sure it is. Just look at James 1:2. This verse tells us that even though our troubles aren't always pleasant, we should consider them all joy.

ANDY: That's bad.

PETE: Why's that bad?

ANDY: 'Cause some of my problems are awful. How can I count them a joy?

PETE: Ah ... don't be so pessimistic. That can be good. You just need to read God's word and pray that He will help you with your problems. When God helps you solve your problem, you will see that it wasn't so bad after all.

ANDY: Yeah, I guess you're right, pal. Hey, you wanna go play baseball?

PETE: Sure, let's go. I'll get my ball and bat. (BOTH EXIT TOGETHER)
