CAMP! is a curriculum
set in a wilderness camp that is host to a variety of entertaining
characters. At 'Camp Moosefeather
Falls' a friendly bear named Kody is often found rummaging through the
trash. Campers
will join Kody in his pursuit to learn about the joyous nature of our
God.Your
kids will squeal with delight as Kody, the Camp Director, the Poison Ivy
Itch and Scratch Dancers, the Muskrat Cabin Players, and a host of Camp
Counselors and Camp Staff make every effort to teach them about the
nature of God.
How It Works
Each day your campers will start off with the general ASSEMBLY of
cabins. (Each camper will be assigned a cabin that they stay with
all week long.) Durring Assembly they will sing original camp songs, get the
day's instruction, and more than likely enjoy a laugh out loud funny
meeting between the camp mascot, Kodiak T. Bear and the Camp
Director. The theme of the day will be introduced as well.
Next, the cabins will dismiss to the different
stations.
Modular Stations include:
Arts and Crafts Lodge - Where campers will make memorable
crafts and learn a valuable application to the day's theme.
Recreation Field - Campers play games and enjoy a more physical
demonstration of the day's Biblical theme.
Storytime Clearing - Campers watch a high-spirited storyteller
bring the day's lesson to life with crazy antics.
Dining Hall - Campers make and eat snacks packed with nutrition
for the soul! (in the form of poignant application)
Nature Walk - Campers hike to a location where they see a
visual demonstration of God's Biblical truth!
Together again, the Camper's favorite time...
The Council Fire!
After the day's activities, all the cabins
come together to watch the Muskrat Cabin Players do a camp skit,
sing songs with the Poison Ivy Itch and Scratch Dancers, listen
to the Groundskeeper share a short lesson about the day's theme
at the Council Fire, and laugh with glee again at the interaction
between the Camp Director and that lovable Kody! This will
wrap up the day, only to do it again tomorrow!

Sock Hop is written to combine the fun music and decor of the 50's with solid instruction and classic VBS values. Every day begins with an opening assembly featuring plenty of music, a couple of "hip" hosts (could be puppets), a memory verse taught by Space Commander Joe (use included video or present live -- even with a puppet, if you want), and offering time.
Then, the children head out to stations where they will make crafts (like popsicle stick things, sunglasses, kites, etc.), eat snacks, play games, visit Spunky's Clubhouse (set as a wacky children's television show) during which they will hear the Bible Story for the day and witness an exciting scientific "Object Lesson."
After all the stations, they return to the main assembly for the "Sock Hop" where they sing lots of fun 50's style music, have opportunity to recite the day's memory verse for a prize, and play silly games. Amongst the hilarity they will be reminded of the day's theme, the day's memory verse, and tie it all up with a bow of fun.
One of the unique aspects of Sock Hop is the "framework" of improvisation upon which it is built. There are scripts and instructions, but improvisation is encouraged and "sticking to the script" is not really recommended. The more "your own" you make it, the better the experience it will be for the kids. If you liked the way CAMP! worked, you'll love Sock Hop.
